Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI), a national policy research institute which is relocated to Gwangju•Jeollanam Innovation City, began its construction of its new office building.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 28th in Naju, and Park Joon-yong (Governor of S.Jeolla Province), Choi Sei-kyun (President of KREI), Lee Joonwon (Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs), Lim Seong-hun (Mayor of Naju City) and local residents attended the ceremony.

The new office building of KREI will be built on a 30,702㎡ site with a gross floor area of 15,774㎡ and eight floors above the ground. The construction is expected to be completed at the end of 2014, and employees will move to the new office soon as the construction is complete.

KREI is a government-funded institution, and it conducts researches on medium and long term agricultural development initiatives and policies, and devises promotion of welfare for farmers and development of rural communities.

“We are happy to begin the construction of our new office building in Jeollanam, where the bio industry flourished.” President Choi said. “The Institute will work hard to make contribution to the development of agriculture in Jeollanam.”
