Jeollanam Designates 2 Agro-Industrial Complex

Two new agro-industrial complexes will be established in the South Jeollanam Province (Jeonnam).

Jeollanam announced yesterday that the establishment of the complexes was reflected in the Jeollanam industrial complex designation initiative for 2014, as the needs of establishing two agro-industrial complexes were recognized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

After thorough review on location demand, plan for funds supply and qualification of the project enforcer, the ministry said it is feasible to develop Yeosu Hwayang Hanok village and Gurye 2nd Jayeon dream park.

The total of combined site area is about 124,000㎡.

The complexes will be supported with governmental fund of KRW 80,000 for every 3.3㎡. The entire project expense will be funded by the government (70 percent), municipal government (20 percent) and loan (20 percent).

The province decides the designation of an agro-industrial complex by going through several steps of procedure, including public briefing sessions for local residents, environmental effects evaluation, meetings with relevant authorities.

There are currently a total of 59 agro-industrial complexes in Jeonnam, with the area of 10,269,000㎡.

Forty-eight complexes (8,635,000㎡) have seen a sales rate of 98 percent, and 90 percent of operational rate, contributing the increase of the income for the local community.
