According to Yonhap News,
An electric vehicle factory capable of producing over 10,000 cars per year is to be established in Daema industrial complex, Younggwang, South Jeolla province.
The Younggwang county government announced on March 15 that CT&T Co. broke ground to build an electric vehicle manufacturing plant on March 16.
The company will invest KRW 100 billion in total for the coming three years and establish production lines and office buildings in the county.
The factory, if established, is expected to generate KRW 100 billion and create over 500 new jobs on an annual basis.
The county government will sign an agreement on “green electric vehicle industry development” with CT&T on March 16 and pledge to provide administrative and financial support for the company in designation of low-speed driving sections for electric vehicles, diffusion of electric cars, and research and development of automobile parts.
The Daema industrial complex will be completed by 2011 with investment to the tune of KRW 176.8 billion in Songjuk-ri and Namsan-ri, Daema-myeon, Younggwang county.
Once completed, the industrial complex will attract food businesses, machinery and equipment companies, automobile- and trailer-related businesses.
A Younggwang county government official vowed to implement projects to develop the county into the center of the electric vehicle industry.
