Gwangju, Jeonnam recorded trade surplus of USD 254 million in July.
According to Gwangju Main Customs on August 16th, the analysis of export and import of Gwangju, Jeonnam in July shows that export increased by 11.8 percent to USD 3,730 million and import rose by 10.1 percent to 3,476 million from the previous month. The trade surplus reached USD 254 million.
In Gwangju, export jumped 7.3 percent to USD 1,085 million, while import went up 24.9 percent to USD 670 million from the previous month.
Export of machinery and precision instruments slightly dropped by 8.1 percent, while export of semiconductors (17.7%), home appliances (8.0%), transportation equipment (6.3%), leather, rubber, and shoes (3.4%) went up.
By country, export to the U.S. fell (-6.4%), while export to Japan (53.3%), China (14.7%), the Middle East (3.9%), and Southeast Asia increased (2.3%) increased.
Jeonnam export rose by 13.8 percent to USD 2,645 million, while import went up by 7.1 percent to USD 2,806 million compared with the previous month.
Export of major items such as transportation equipment (ships) (134.7%) but also precision instruments (30.7%), steel products (17.6%), and chemicals (1.6%) were up.
By country, export to EU (-16.2%), Southeast Asia (-11.0%), and China (-4.2%) dropped, while export to the Middle East surged (454.8%).
