Writer administ Posted at 2010-12-17
According to Yonhap News,

Jeonnam-do (South Jeolla Province) will conduct various measures such as developing a geographic information system (GIS) and establishing a community of regional residents for efficient management and preservation of Sinan Dadohae Biosphere Reserve.

According to Jeonnam on December 3rd, the Province held a committee meeting for biosphere reserve management in the presence of relevant government agencies, and had discussions on how to efficiently manage Sinan Dadohae Biosphere Reserve.

At the meeting, the Island Culture Institute, which was commissioned to devise plans to preserve the biosphere reserve region, raised the need to improve added values by developing the GIS for islands and attaching eco-labels on the regional indigenous products, to boost the eco-tourism, and to offer educational programs on human beings and the nature.

The Institute also proposed that a center for visitors to the biosphere region and a designated body to manage the region should be established, and Sinan Dadohae Biosphere Reserve should be expanded to be designated as a World Mixed Heritage.

Relevant government agencies including the Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs said that they would cooperate with the Ministry of Environment to provide full support to systematically manage Sinan Dadohae Biosphere Reserve which boasted beautiful scenery such as tidal flats and islands.

Jeonnam-do plans to offer a familiarization tour for major domestic companies and travel agencies within this month to promote Sinan Dadohae Biosphere Reserve.
