According to Yonhap News,

Sindae Rear Complex is being built smoothly, which aims to promote foreign investment in the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone.

The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority said on September 19th that the project to create Sindae Rear Complex has proceeded well with the construction rate of 71 percent and the sales rate of 75 percent. Sindae Rear Complex begun to be constructed on a 3 million square meters area in Sindae-ri, Haeyong-myeon, Suncheon city in March 2008.

KRW 560 billion will have been injected by 2011 to create Sindae Rear Complex, which will be an eco-friendly complex city. The city will provide various functions such as education, medical services, housing, leisure, etc. with 11,000 houses where about 30,000 people can live.

Especially, one percent to ten percent of the 11,000 houses will be exclusively rent to foreigners. Sites for educational institutions (139,000 square meters) and medical institutions (98,000 square meters) are also secured.

Sindae Rear Complex is currently pushing forward projects to attract six schools, institutions and hospitals including Netherlands Shipping and Transport College (undergraduate course), the graduate school of ceramics. The complex is also committed to drawing foreign schools with a goal to open foreign elementary, middle, and high schools which can educate a total of 1,500 students in March 2012.
