On January 10, 2024 (local time), Governor Kim Yungrok of Jeollanam-do signed a business agreement with Plug and Play (PNP), the world’s largest start-up accelerator, during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas, USA. It aims to foster innovative growth for businesses in Jeollanam-do.
An accelerator refers to a company that identifies and supports start-ups.
Following the agreement, PNP and Jeollanam-do have committed to collaborate, aiming to foster the advancement of Jeollanam-do’s entrepreneurial environment and facilitate innovation and growth for local businesses.
Key collaboration efforts encompass operating customized start-up development programs, attracting investments for promising companies, and establishing a network with global entrepreneurial support institutions.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, USA, PNP is the world’s largest start-up accelerator and investor, having produced over 30 unicorn companies (private start-ups valued at over KRW 1 trillion), including PayPal, Google, and Dropbox, along with more than 1,600 start-ups.
Governor Kim Yungrok highlighted, “The extensive corporate network facilitated by Plug and Play presents an excellent opportunity for innovative enterprises in Jeollanam-do to expand internationally. We are committed to supporting local start-ups with exceptional technological capabilities to become global entities.”
