Scent of Roses Fills Gokseong International Rose Festival

The 9th Gokseong International Rose Festival will be held May 17-26 at Seomjingang Train Village in Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do.
With this year’s theme “Imagining the Lucky Golden Rose”, 1004 types of roses as well as various programs will highlight the festival. Countless roses will decorate the pond, main fountain, tunnel, maze and more throughout the festival ground.
Main programs include “Finding the Lucky Gold Rose” event where a real gold rose is up for grabs; various music performances including jazz, nanta and gugak (traditional Korean music); traditional Korean games; and rose related experience programs.
The admission fee for the festival is 5,000 won, which includes a Gokseong Simcheong gift certificate worth 2,000 won that can be used at participating stores in Gokseong. The festival runs until 22:00 making it possible for visitors to see roses in different lighting. For those who want free entrance, the admission is free after 20:00.
